There's no center of the universe!

You might have heard that the universe is expanding, and someone might have explained it to you by comparing it to a balloon being filled with air. We've known for nearly 100 years that the universe is expanding, but that comparison makes it seem like it's moving out from a central point in space.

In reality, every single part of space is expanding at once, so it's more accurate to compare this process to the expanding surface of a balloon as it fills up.
